Do you love action movies? Of course, you do. Statistics show that action movies are the second most enjoyed genre globally. I am sure that if you are one of those who can at least enjoy a good action movie when it comes on cable television (or at your parents’ house over the holidays), then you must have seen some of these top action movies at some point in your life. We figured it would be helpful to go on a bit of a daydreaming exercise and put together a list of the best action movies that deserve a sequel (or two). Hold tight!

Gladiator 2

This movie is one of the classic action films that probably everyone has watched. If we talk about action movie sequels, this one has to be in the conversation. Written by David Franzoni, John Logan, and William Nicholson and directed by Ridley Scott, this movie has a box office record of $187.7M. Something that cannot go unnoticed.

Now the plot of the story is taken from the historical background. Commodus strips Maximus from a power position and gets set up for failure. It’s a long road to vengeance through various fights in gladiator arenas all over the Roman empire.

The standard screenplay and creative dialogue have given this movie another dimension. Russel Crowe’s mesmerizing performance on-screen has won thousands of hearts and is still doing so.

Crowe has commented, “The standout thing with this film, and 20 years later I can say with confidence that somewhere in the world, today, tonight, that movie will be played on primetime. And it’s 20 years since it came out. Not every movie lasts in that way.” Director Scott explains, “I’m very fortunate to be fit enough to be still flying, really. I think Gladiator would have to go up near the top one, two or three, and after nearly 30 movies, that’s crazy.”

Now I know what you’re thinking. There’s no way you could make a Gladiator sequel that would be as good as the original (Gladiator won 5 Oscar awards, 54 other awards, and was nominated 106 times). Here’s the thing, we agree. This movie is too perfect for tarnishing with a sequel. Our asterisk workaround would be to create a prequel or a spin-off with one of the other gladiator characters like Juba or Falco. Let Maximus live in his glory forever and leave this one alone.

Inception 2

The 2010 summer blockbuster hit Inception has made over $800 million gross worldwide since 2010. Christopher Nolan’s Inception has been a fan favorite for years now.

Leonardo Decaprio, AKA Dom Kobb, is seen to be a thief who is blessed with an extraordinary power of entering in dreams of people and stealing all the secrets. Without giving away too many spoilers, this superpower can be especially powerful in many ways. Now, when the chances of redemption come, a hideous enemy is seen to forecast every move of Cobb.

With a complex yet spine-chilling screenplay and magnificent cinematography, this movie has slain the box office undoubtedly. However, Nolan fans around the world, after watching this one in 2010, have been waiting for the sequel. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best as it has the potential to be just as good as the original.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: 2

What movies should have sequels? To answer the question properly, we thought long and hard about it and had to put The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on our list. While this movie may have flown under the radar for most, you will most likely enjoy it if you are a die-hard action lover.

Guy Ritchie, the director of this film, has explored the heights of the cold war in this 2015 movie. We see a mysterious criminal organization planning to use nuclear arms to disrupt the Soviet Union and the U.S.A. relationship. Napoleon Solo, the C.I.A. agent, and Illya Kuryakin, the K.G.B. agent, then take drastic action. Leaving the hostility aside, they are seen to work together to put an end to the evil. The couple’s just lead is the little girl of a missing German researcher, whom they should discover soon to forestall worldwide destruction!

The creative cinematographic presentation and witty plot development makes this movie something worth your time. This is one of those movies where the sequel could be better than the original. So much potential!

These were some of the top action movies that deserve a remake. If you haven’t seen the originals yet, give them a watch. Either way, tell us what you think in the comments below.
